MIXED MEDIA LAYOUT USING RECYCLED MATERIALS

Friends, Today am sharing with you all a mixed media layout inspired by gabrielle pollaco's "imagine" LO. I followed her step by step but slightly modified the LO.  Since I dint have many materials for mixed media I used recycled materials to create this LO.

STEP BY STEP:

Initially I cut a piece from packaging cardboard and covered it with canvas paper.

I randomly stuck some pieces of advertisement papers.

Diluted alcohol inks with water and sprayed them using mini mister. Applied homemade texture paste using a stencil cut out from an old basket.

All the above embellishments are cut from cereal boxes.
Then made the under water creatures using white air dry clay and coloured them using pearl paints.

Glued all the embellishments and distressed the edges using red and black inks. The blue stone like embellishments are using hot glue gun and blue paints. I wrote the title using black marker.

DIYA PLATTER USING GLITTER FOAM SHEETS

Hello friends, Today am posting the pics of diya platter made by me for this diwali. This diwali I was busy making sweets, snacks and jewellery matching my dress. As a result I had very little time to make diwali crafts. I bought diyas long back and I want to make it into a platter. Luckily this tutorial from youtube helped me and I finished this craft in 30 min.

I bought a pack of 10 different colour glitter foam sheets from walmart . I started off by cutting the edges of a paper plate , turned the plate upside down and glued the spiral foam roses.

KALASH CLAY MURAL BY RECYCLING CARDBOARD

Hello friends, hope you all are busy with your diwali preparations!! Today am sharing with you all my first attempt, in making a clay mural. I got introduced to this clay mural through the fb page fevicryl hobby ideas. I wanted to try it out  and it was pending in my wish list for a long time. Since the Diwali is approaching I decided to make a clay art of Kalash and here it is.

I used white air dry clay for my project.

Here goes the procedure:

Draw kalash in a cardboard  and cut it out. ( I used cardboard from an old packaging box). Cover the cardboard with a primer like gesso. ( I used white acrylic paint).

Draw the design of your choice . Here I have drawn a swasthik design. Roll the clay and paste it onto the design.

To make the leaves:
Take a small cmount of clay and roll it into a tear drop shape. Press it gently to get the shape of the leaf. Draw veins on the leaf using knife.

To make the coconut:
Take more clay and make a bigger tear drop shape. Press it to get the shape of a coconut. Cut a small sector down and draw lines using a knife.

To make the flower:

Cover the sides with golden ribbon and paint the kalash using the colours of your choice.

Apply 2 coats of varnish or glue and gloss to get the shine.

Hope you all liked my clay mural work.... Have a crafty weekend ....

VINTAGE CARD USING ONE STAMP SET

Hello friends , today am going to share a card which I made for CSCC-#8  - " One card , one stampset ". Click here to participate in the challenge.

This is my card:
Actually I dont have any clear stamp set with me and I have'nt tried stamping with clear stamp so far. This is the biggest  advantage of being a DT. I had to come out of my comfort zone and try something new and exciting.I bought a tim holtz clear stamp set. Since the stamps are best suitable for vintage themed cards I  created the same.

My stamp set had more stamps than that can be accommodated in a card so I created a small tag too.
I started off by taking a white card stock and applied homemade texture paste over alphabet stencil. Then applied watercolours to get the brown colour. Distressed the edges black ink. I stamped each one on a separate cardstock and glued them to my card. The blooms are handmade.

I had so much fun creating this card and am very happy with the way the card turned out. So you too have fun by playing with us along CSCC #8.

HANDMADE CHETTIAR DOLLS FOR NAVARATHRI

Hello friends, Today am posting the handmade chettiar dolls made by me for navarathri kolu. I made these dolls using air dry terracotta clay.

I love navarathri kolu , but here in US we dont get much dolls and the dolls we get are too expensive. So decided to try my hands on sculpting a doll which is totally new for me.

I love chettiar dolls and I thought they would be easy to make compared to other dolls. But when I started, I realized that they are not that easy as I had thought.  I was very nervous as this is my first sculpting work. But finally was very happy with the way the dolls turned out.

I have used acrylics for colouring and varnish for the glossy effect.

Hope you all will like it too...
