QUILLED WATERMELON CARD

Hello Friends, Happy tamil new year !! The theme of this month's lulupu challenge is to make a CAS card on the theme " Summer".  When I thought about summer the first thing that came to my mind is watermelon. Summer is the season for watermelons and it is a wonderful thirst quencher. Watermelon juice is not only tasty but it is also a healthier drink rich in water content. So I decided to make a quilled watermelon card and here it is.

The inspiration picture given was..

I chose the colours pink , peach, red , yellow and orange from the picture.

WELCOME SPRING CARD

Hello Friends, hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Today am posting a pink and white card made for the creative colours challenge.

I started off by colouring the edges of the watercolour paper using acrylics and distress inks. I coloured the digital stamp using pastels. The die cuts are actually cut from a lace and coloured using distress inks.  I embellished the card using handmade flowers.

This is the inspiration picture of creative colours challenge...

I have also taken inspiration from the below picture of beyond grey challenge...

I have used pink, peach, green and white and green colours from the picture. Since it is the onset of spring season I have used bright rose flowers as embellishments.

I have stamped a sentiment "Welcome Spring" at the bottom and decorated the card using pink pearls.

DOODLE ART JOURNAL

Hi , I wanted to do an art journal for quite a long time but din't find time to do so. When I saw the theme of sentimental sunday's challenge being "doodle" I decided to fulfill my long term wish of doodling an art journal. I love to doodle as they are random and have no strict patterns or rules. In this art journal I have doodled some of my favourite patterns.

I did the background using watercolours and doodles using black marker. The designs are inspired from mehendi patterns.

I had super fun making this art journal and thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Have a nice weekend friends!!
Happy crafting!!

DECORATIVE WALL HANGING

Hello friends, Welcome back!! Today am posting a decorative wall hanging made by altering paper plate.

I started off by pasting a white paper at the centre of the plate and coloured it using watercolours and watercolour pencils. Then I used a cardboard spiral as the frame. The digi stamp is from a day for daisies. All the flowers are handmade. ( will post the tutorial of these flowers in a couple of days). I painted the edge of the plate using black acrylics and stuck pieces of green and yellow sattin ribbon.

Here are some more close up images...

I coloured the digital image using watercolour pencils.

The center rose flower is made with paper and the two blue flowers are made using clay.

Attach hooks at the backside of paper plate and hang it on the walls. ( It is very easy to insert hooks in a paper plate).

HANDMADE FLOWER TUTORIAL

Hello Friends , this week I decided to do some projects which are pending in my wish list for a long time. Usually I will work on a theme of the given challenge and will be in a hurry to submit them. I always do flowers and embellishments at the finishing stage so in a hurry I end up making the most easiest flower I could. After seeing Hussena and Nupur's blog I felt that the placement of beautiful flowers play a major role in making the project look good. So googled upon and found some interesting handmade flower tutorials which I would be sharing with you this week.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  1. Cardstock ( different colours)
  2. Flower template ( can be hand drawn)
  3. Scissors
  4. Embossing tool or fountain pen
  5. Glue
  6. Beads or pearls
PROCEDURE:

This is the template I used for making these flowers. I downloaded the image from net.

We need three different sized flowers and I used the sizes marked with the box.

We need 2 big sized flowers , 2 medium sized flowers and 1 small flower.

Place all the flowers on a foam sheet and by using the embossing tool or back of the fountain pen press at the end of each petal and pull towards the centre. I used the fountain pen. ( You can also use back side of ball point pen or brush).

The petals will become curved towards the centre. This process is little tiring but with embossing tool I think you can make this process easy. Do this for all the petals and flowers.

Arrange the flowers starting from the large flowers to the small flower in the center.

The completed flower looks like this( pic below). Glue a pearl to the centre of the flower.

I made these flowers with different colours and arranged them in a black Cardboard sheet so that I can use it later for my projects.

MIXED MEDIA SPRING LAYOUT

Hello Crafty pals, I am very excited to publish my 50th post today. I thank all my fellow bloggers who have encouraged me by giving their genuine comments and inspired me to create beautiful craft projects. Today am posting another mixed media layout made on the theme "Spring. "

I started off with Artist's loft canvas board ( not canvas) and covered it with crushed pieces of white tissue paper. Since i did'nt have gesso , I mixed white acrylics and craftsmart glue and used as a primer. The result was good ( though you won't get the finish similar to gesso).

Once it is dried I used alcohol inks of various colours to make the background.

The clouds, tree branch , tag and butterflies are handcut from cardboard and painted using acrylics.

The bird is made out of clay and coloured using acrylics.

The daisy flowers are handmade . Finally applied a coat of varnish to get the glossy look.

By seeing the blooming trees , singing birds and creeping sunshine one gets the feeling of hope. So pasted the sentiment " Spring Bring Hope".
