ACCORDION FLOWERS

Welcome back Friends!!! Today am posting a tutorial on accordion flowers.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
  1. Patterned paper or colour paper . Paper cut from magazines can also be used
  2. glue
  3. scissors
  4. scale or inch tape
PROCEDURE:

I used a tissue paper here. Initially try it out with thick paper as tissue papers are very light and may tear while creasing.

Here i used a pen knife to make a crease every 1/2 an inch.

Trim off any excess of paper after folding.

When you take away your finger, the flower again pops up to its circular shape. In order to keep it in the flattened position we must stick a piece of paper in the center.

The piece of paper used can be of any shape or it can be any embellishment used for decorating the flower.

These accordian flowers can  be used for decorating scrapbooks , greeting cards, wall decor , earrings etc. I have made a greeting card/ wall decor using these accordion flowers.

The tutorial of Handmade Rakhi using these flowers will be posted soon.

Have a nice day!
Happy crafting!!

FASHIONABLE QUILLED CHANDBALI EARRINGS

Hi all , Welcome back. Today am posting the tutorial of making a quilled chandbali  earrings decorated with urad dal beads. Chandbali earrings are very beautiful , heavy weight , traditional earrings in the shape of chand ( moon). They are suitable for all festive occasions and goes well with saree. Here i have made a simple chandbali design earring using paper. This earring can be worn with salwars and kurta.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
  1. Quilling strips of colour - light pink , dark pink , green , red , white and cream
  2. Quilling tool
  3. White urad dal ( Beads , stones, pearls can be used)
  4. Earring hooks and rings
  5. Scissors and glue
  6. Acrylic paints
PROCEDURE:

Step 1 : To make a hoop.
Take a cream colour strip , cut into half and wind it around a circular object to get a hoop.
I used the glue bottle cap .

Step 2: Take the light and dark  pink strips and cut into 5 equal parts. Join a light pink and dark pink strip and quill into a tight coil.

Arrange these coils inside the hoop and glue them.

Step 3 : Take a green strip and do beehive quilling. Click here to learn Beehive quilling

Step 4: Cut the white strip into half and fold it four times and glue them. Bend the strip to get a half- moon shape.

Step 5: Stick the green colour beehive strips to the bottom of the hoop. Below this paste the white strip.
Step 6: Take red and white small strips and quill into tight coils. Stick these below the white strips.

Step 7: Instead of beads i used white urad dal for decoration. Wash the urad dal , dry it and then paint them using acrylics.

Generally Chandbali earrings cost 500 INR. Here we made an inexpensive, light weight, fashionable chandbali earrings with paper and urad dal.

Since the colours used in this earrings are christmas colours ( red, green, white and pink) , these earrings are a perfect christmas gift. Linking this post to totally papercrafts challenges and unstampabelles challenge

GIRLY SCRAPBOOK LO

Hi all , today am sharing a Girly scrapbook layout made for catchy challenges. This is my first scrapbook LO.

The topic was to design a girly scrapbook layout. Girls love shopping so i decided to make a scrapbook on the theme " GIRLY SHOPPING". I used a "girly pink" patterned paper as the background. The layout was inspired by Michelle Lanning. I stuck a photo of a cute girl with shopping bags. Surrounding this i pasted stickers of the things that I wanted to buy ( handbag, lipstick, dress, icecream, glasses, make up kit, nail polish, necklace, boots, mirror, candies). I decorated the scrapbook using pink flowers and ribbons.

WOOLEN THREAD EARRINGS

Hi all, today  we are going to see the tutorial of making woolen thread earrings. These earrings are done by winding woolen thread around a piece of cardboard. The initial few steps are similar to the cardboard earrings which we have done earlier. To refer to the tutorial of cardboard earrings click here

I have attached a quilling jhumka in the hole . You can decorate it by attaching pearls, kundan stones etc.

MUSICAL GREETING CARD

Hi all , I have made this Musical theme greeting card for freshly made sketches challenge. The above is the given card layout for this week's challenge. I have done this card based on the theme music. So i used a musical patterned wallpaper as a base and made a 2 octave piano with paper and paints. I stuck a picture of violin cut out from a magazine. I quilled music symbols and pasted on the piano. On the top and bottom of the piano i drew some music notations. Thus my greeting card is ready to be submitted to Freshly made sketches challenge

DIGITAL PAINTINGS

Digital painting is a method of creating an art digitally by using computer , tab , ipad and a computer graphics software. When i was seeing an interview of a famous director i was amazed by the digital paintings done for each of his poems.  I got inspired and wanted to try it out. When my husband gifted an ipad for our anniversary i started off my mission. Below are some of my first trials of digital painting . I created these paintings using IPAD and sketchbook pro app.
